Cops enforcing Tim Walz’s curfew by shooting paintballs at residents as they stood in their doorways
Disturbing video shows dozens of riot cops enforcing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s curfew order spreading out in a Minneapolis neighborhood and peppering residents with paintballs while they stood on their porches and in their front doorways.
The newly resurfaced clip, filmed May 30, 2020, by Tanya Kersson just outside her home, resembles a scene from a dystopian movie. It shows a tan Humvee rolling slowly down a quiet street in the Whittier neighborhood, followed by at least 25 heavily armored cops.Kersson can be heard saying aloud, “Look at this, they just keep coming–” before she’s cut off by several officers barking orders at full volume.“Go home! Get inside! Get in your house now, let’s go!” the officers shouted as they traipsed down the street.
The woman kept filming, at which point an officer can be heard saying “Light ’em up!”
Suddenly, officers fired paintballs at the woman and her guests, the gun’s muzzle flash clearly visible against the fading light of dusk.“Get in! Get in! Get in! Get in! Get in!” the resident shouted to her friends as they made a mad dash to get out of the line of fire.
The muffled chorus of shouting police voices continued through the hastily slammed front door.The incident came just days after the Minnesota governor, now Vice President Kamala Harris’ running-mate, issued a draconian executive order imposing a strict 8 p.m. curfew for all Minneapolis and St. Paul to tamp down the violent riots following the murder of George Floyd.
The cops were filmed in the trendy Whittier neighborhood of the city, which is home to the Minneapolis Institute of Art and a popular restaurant scene. It is more the two miles from the area where Floyd was killed — where riots and looting raged for days.
“Since May 29, 2020, when I first issued a nighttime curfew, over 400 individuals have been arrested, with over 250 individuals arrested after the 8:00 pm curfew on May 31, 2020,” Walz wrote in the June 1 extension of the original order.
“Because much of the destruction and violence has taken place under the cover of darkness, we must continue a temporary nighttime curfew in coordination with the Cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul.” Source

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Chicago firefighters battled an electrical vault fire in the West Loop Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out at about 4:02 a.m. on Green Street near Randolph Street.The fire prompted a Level 2 Hazmat response with a nearby hotel evacuated, Chicago Fire Media said.
Chopper7 flew above the scene, with flames shooting up from the sidewalk."There was a loud kind of explosion and it smelled like burned coffee actually, not so much just roasting coffee and then the fire alarm went off," hotel guest Robert Watkins said. "They went door-to-door, the hotel did a great job getting everybody out. We came out, you could see in the front of the building a huge fire coming out of the manhole on the street, 10 foot high flames, bunch of smoke, a lot of crackling and popping, like small little explosions and they brought us to this side of the street and the fire company showed up."Shortly after 6 a.m., CFD said the fire was struck. The cause of death for a North Carolina woman who was found 'entangled' in a baggage claim conveyor belt at Chicago O'Hare has been revealed.
The death of Christine Vinton, 57, of Waxhaw, Virginia, was ruled a suicide by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office on Friday.
She died by asphyxiation due to hanging, a spokesperson told The Chicago Tribune. The 57-year-old was found inside a restricted area in Terminal 5 shortly before 8am on Thursday where she was found unresponsive and 'entangled' in the conveyor belt.
Surveillance footage showed the woman entering the unoccupied area around 2:30am - five hours before her body was discovered.
Vinton was pronounced dead at the scene and was not an airport employee. Authorities said the part of the airport the woman entered is restricted to employees, and while it's considered secure, it isn't a high-security area, ABC 7 reported.
This section of the international terminal is filled with conveyor belts that bring luggage to and from planes. Bags in this area also go through customs.
The terminal serves Delta Airlines, as well as international carriers.

A 17-year-old charged with murdering three girls who were stabbed at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport has been named.
Axel Muganwa Rudakubana is also charged with 10 counts of attempted murder after eight other children and two adults were seriously injured in the attack on Monday.
The suspect, who is from the Lancashire village of Banks, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court, and also faces a charge of possessing a curved kitchen knife.
He was remanded into youth detention accommodation.
The Cardiff-born teenager could not previously be named due to his age but Recorder of Liverpool Judge Andrew Menary KC ruled it could be made public following applications from the media.
The defendant is due to turn 18 next week.
The judge said he was mindful of "misinformation" that had spread regarding the accused's identity. Southport saw a night of unrest on Tuesday following a vigil in memory of the victims, with protesters gathering near a mosque in the Merseyside town.
Five men were arrested - with one later charged with possessing a knife - after a police van was set alight and bricks were thrown, with 53 police officers injured.
A further Section 60 order, which gives police enhanced powers to stop and search and is designed to minimise violence, was put in place on Thursday evening.
This follows the original Section 60 order brought in for 24 hours from 17:00 BST on Wednesday evening.
The latest order came into effect at 18:00 BST and will also last for 24 hours, with extra officers in the area, Merseyside Police said.
Judge Menary said: "Continuing to prevent full reporting at this stage has a disadvantage of allowing others up to mischief to continue to spread misinformation in a vacuum." Source
