The Phoenix Fire Department said a large home in the area of 36th Street and Lincoln Drive in Paradise Valley was destroyed Saturday afternoon after a fire resulted from a "significant explosion." Firefighters responded to the scene near Piestewa Peak at approximately 4:40 p.m. As of 7 p.m., fire crews were still working to contain the fire, Phoenix fire officials said. "The home was totally destroyed. We are protecting adjacent homes at this time," said Capt. Evan Gammage, spokesperson for the Phoenix Fire Department. "There were several other homes that got damaged due to the explosion."
